Special Message

This blog is dedicated to every woman, and especially horsewomen, who started their motherhood journey a little later than most. If you feel like your story is a theatrical event and you've just begun the 2nd act, then this blog is for you. This blog will communicate what I have learned from growing up a suburban latch key kid, to marrying a cowboy-at-heart, to relocating and raising our daughter in the heart of Rocky Mountain country.

About Me

20 (no)things about me...

  1. I am a Michigan girl.  I graduated from the
and love and miss Ann Arbor.  I especially miss it in the early spring when the plum blossoms are in full bloom.
  2. If you haven't already figured it out, I am  addicted to all things horse.  I inherited this love from my stepfather, who had thoroughbreds when I was growing up.
  3. My dad's trainer was Bill Mott, Hall-of-Fame trainer of 1997's Horse of the Year, Cigar.  Of course, he was dad's trainer waaaayyyyyy before that, when he was just starting his career in the '70s.
  4. I have been to Churchill Downs, Kentucky...but not the Kentucky Derby (yet).
  5. I didn't get my first horse until I was 37.
  6. I gave birth to my first child 64 days before my 40th birthday. This pic is at about 8 months -->
  7. I studied for a year in Japan...23 years ago.

Could it really have been that long ago?  I used to be able to speak Japanese, now I just tell people I can.
  8. I am married to the Marlboro Man (minus the cigarettes).
  9. I live in Colorado, the greatest place to live if you love horses.
  10. I am allergic to wasps.
  11. I had 4 pygmy goats when we were living in Montana. Picture is of the goats meeting the cat for the 1st time!  I miss them....(sigh)
  12. Hubby and I were married in Jamaica.  (A side note - if you ever get married in Jamaica, make sure you don't lose your marriage certificate.  What a pain!)
  13. Hubby proposed to me with white lights in a park, which we flew over in a helicopter.  That story is a future post.
  14. Hubby and I met in a bar in Denver. I-kid-you-not.
  15. My favorite cities in the world are Osaka, Japan and Denver, Colorado.  However, I still plan on seeing Paris and Venice, someday (soon?).  Might need to add to the list.
  16. My favorite person is my grandma, my Oma. She died in 2008. She is so much of who I am today, and I love her and miss her terribly.
  17. I have an IQ of 146.  I don't know why I share that with people.  I guess because it never ceases to shock me.
  18. My fourth grade teacher follows this blog (hi, Miss Elson).  She inspired and nurtured my love for writing many, many years ago.  I can never thank her enough.
  19. Right now, Miss Elson is busy with her red pen, correcting this page.  My blog, my rules (heh, heh)!
  20. This is my everything.  Mess with it, and watch out for Momma Bear:
